Stadium Overview

Bloomfield Road is a compact town-centre football ground with a strong seaside setting, sitting close to Blackpool promenade and the main resort area. It has been Blackpool's long-term home since the early 20th century and has been rebuilt in stages, which means it now has a mostly modern feel while still retaining a distinctive character because of its location and the layout around Seasiders Way.

The Sir Stanley Matthews West Stand is the main stand and contains much of the club's hospitality, media and principal facilities. The Armfield South Stand is the home end behind one goal and is usually the loudest part of the stadium. The North Stand is at the opposite end, while the East Stand runs along the side nearest the temporary/development side of the ground and has been subject to upgrade work in recent years, including improvements around seating, media positions, lighting, PA and safe-standing style rail installations. Bloomfield Road is not a huge stadium, but it can be noisy, especially when the home support in the South Stand gets going.

Away End

Away supporters at Bloomfield Road are normally accommodated in the East Stand side of the stadium. Allocations can vary depending on the match, away demand and any operational work around the East Stand, so visiting fans should always follow the ticket and access instructions issued by their own club and Blackpool before travelling.

The away side of Bloomfield Road is reached from the Seasiders Way / Bloomfield Road area, with the stadium sitting very close to the seafront, car parks, hotels and town-centre streets. The location is convenient, but it also means traffic, pedestrian movement and general resort crowds can all mix on busy Saturdays. The view from the away section is usually fine, although the East Stand has historically felt more functional than the three more permanent-looking sides of the ground. With recent and ongoing improvements to the stand and stadium infrastructure, match-by-match arrangements should be checked rather than relying on older away-day accounts.

Matchday Advice

Bloomfield Road is a good away day because the ground is close to the promenade, town centre, hotels, food and pubs. That convenience is also the main thing to plan around: Blackpool can be busy for reasons completely unrelated to football, especially during holiday periods, events, illuminations and warm-weather weekends. Do not judge travel time only by the fixture crowd.

Blackpool South is the closest rail station, while Blackpool North has more services and is walkable for many supporters or a short taxi/tram-and-walk away. If driving, use town-centre or seafront parking plans rather than expecting easy street parking next to the ground. The South Stand is usually the main home atmosphere area. Neutrals wanting a central view should look to the side stands, while away supporters should follow the East Stand instructions issued for their fixture.

Tickets

Blackpool sell home tickets through the club's official ticketing platform and ticket office. The Armfield South Stand is usually the liveliest home area and is best for supporters wanting atmosphere. The West Stand is the main stand and gives a more central, traditional view, while other areas may suit families or supporters wanting a calmer matchday experience.

Away tickets are normally sold by the visiting club from the allocation issued for the East Stand. Because Bloomfield Road's away arrangements can depend on fixture demand and stadium operations, visiting supporters should follow their own club's sales notice for block details, entry instructions and collection information. Digital ticketing is part of Blackpool's ticketing setup, but away delivery methods can still vary by club, so check before travelling.

Stadium Rules

Bloomfield Road follows standard EFL stadium regulations. Supporters should expect bag checks, searches and steward instructions at the turnstiles. Pyrotechnics, smoke bombs, alcohol brought into the stadium, offensive weapons, discriminatory abuse, missile throwing and entering the pitch are prohibited. Blackpool is also a busy resort town, so police and stewards may pay particular attention to supporter movement around the seafront and town-centre drinking areas for higher-risk fixtures.

Inside the ground, fans should use the stand, block and seat shown on their ticket. Away supporters should remain in the allocated visiting section and should follow any fixture-specific instructions for entry and exit. Smoking and vaping are not generally allowed in seated stadium areas unless the club identifies a specific permitted zone.

Accessibility

Blackpool provide disabled supporter information through the Visiting Bloomfield Road section of the club website. Accessible seating, wheelchair positions and companion arrangements should be booked in advance through the relevant ticketing route. Away disabled supporters should normally arrange tickets via their own club, which will have been given the accessible allocation and any instructions for the fixture.

Bloomfield Road is close to the seafront and town centre, which is useful for transport and hotels, but the surrounding area can become very busy. Disabled supporters should allow extra time for parking, drop-off and movement around Seasiders Way. Anyone needing step-free access, accessible toilets, audio support or specific assistance should check directly with Blackpool before matchday.

Stadium Tours

Blackpool advertise stadium tours for Bloomfield Road through the club's Fan Zone section. These tours are intended to give supporters a behind-the-scenes look at the ground, with access depending on the schedule and operational requirements at the stadium.

Because Bloomfield Road also hosts hospitality, conferences and other events, tour dates may not be constant throughout the year. Supporters should check Blackpool's official stadium tour information or ticketing channels before making plans. It is worth doing for visitors who want to see more than the matchday view, especially given the ground's history and its links to the 1953 FA Cup-winning side.
