Stadium Overview

Glanford Park, currently known as the Attis Arena, is a compact, out-of-town stadium on the edge of Scunthorpe near the M181. It was one of the early modern English football grounds and still has a simple, practical layout, with all four stands single-tiered and close enough to the pitch to retain a proper football feel.

The ground has four stands. The Threadgold Stand is the main West Stand and houses the executive boxes, boardroom, directors area, restaurant, press box, family area, changing rooms, ticket office, club shop and offices. The Britcon Stand behind one goal is a home terrace and is usually the most vocal home area. The Mortz East Stand is a seated home stand opposite the main stand, while the AMS South Stand is reserved for away supporters.

Most stands have supporting pillars, so some views can be restricted. For neutrals, the main stand or East Stand gives the best seated view, but supporters should be aware of possible pillars. For atmosphere, the home terrace behind the goal is the strongest area, while the away end is a large all-seated stand with its own facilities.

Away End

Away supporters at Scunthorpe United are normally housed in the AMS South Stand. This is an all-seated away stand holding up to 1,678 supporters. It has TV screens and a bar under the stand, with two access points close to the turnstile entry.

Away supporters enter via turnstile gates 6A, 6B, 6C, 7A and 7B. The club notes that travelling supporters may occasionally be situated elsewhere for special promotions or specific arrangements, and that the East Stand can be used as overspill depending on numbers travelling.

The AMS Stand gives a clear behind-the-goal away view and is a more comfortable away section than many at this level. However, like the rest of the ground, supporters should be aware that some stands have supporting pillars that can restrict views.

Matchday Advice

Scunthorpe is one of the easier grounds to reach by car. The Attis Arena is just off the M181 and is well signposted from routes into the town. There are more than 600 parking spaces within the stadium complex, with parking normally charged per car and a small saving available if booked in advance.

Drivers should avoid using nearby retail park spaces unless they are clearly permitted, as local retail parks operate matchday restrictions. The town centre is further away, and the railway station is more than two miles from the stadium, so rail travellers may prefer a taxi or bus rather than walking.

For neutrals, the main stand or East Stand gives the best overall view, although pillars should be considered. Home supporters wanting atmosphere should look towards the Britcon terrace. Away supporters should head for the AMS South Stand turnstiles and check whether the Iron Bar is available to away fans for that specific fixture.

Tickets

Scunthorpe United ticketing arrangements vary by fixture and are publicised in advance. The club has no cash turnstiles, and where sales are available on the day they are normally handled from the ticket booth in the north-east corner. League fixtures may be subject to a price increase if purchased on the day.

Away supporters are usually allocated the AMS South Stand, entering via gates 6A, 6B, 6C, 7A and 7B. Larger away followings may involve overspill arrangements, including parts of the East Stand, so visiting supporters should check the match-specific information before buying or travelling.

For home or neutral supporters, the Threadgold Stand and Mortz East Stand are the main seated choices, while the Britcon Stand is the home terrace for those wanting atmosphere. Families are often best suited to the family areas in the main stand.

Stadium Rules

The Attis Arena operates standard football ground regulations, with stewarded entry, ticket checks and possible searches. The club has no cash turnstiles, so supporters should check ticketing arrangements before travelling.

Flares, smoke devices, fireworks, alcohol brought into the ground, glass bottles, weapons and other dangerous items are not permitted. Scunthorpe require permission for large flags and instruments, with requests to be submitted to the club at least 48 hours before the game.

Supporters should use the correct turnstiles and remain in their allocated stand when segregation is in place. Away supporters should use the AMS South Stand entrances unless the club confirms alternative arrangements.

Accessibility

Scunthorpe United provide disabled parking for blue badge holders on a first-come, first-served basis on matchdays, with spaces in the East Car Park. These spaces can also be reserved in advance by contacting the ticket office and providing a copy of the blue badge.

The Mortz East Stand has wheelchair bays located centrally to provide a good viewing perspective, with disabled toilets located in the north-east corner of the ground. Away supporters with accessibility needs should contact the club before travelling because the standard away section is the AMS South Stand, while some accessible facilities are described in the East Stand.

Supporters requiring wheelchair spaces, companion tickets, accessible parking or specific assistance should arrange this in advance with the ticket office. This is particularly important for away fans and for fixtures with larger crowds.

Stadium Tours

There does not appear to be a regular public stadium tour programme at Glanford Park / the Attis Arena. Scunthorpe United provide detailed stadium and visiting supporter information, but routine bookable tours are not clearly advertised.

Supporters interested in private access, group visits or community arrangements should contact Scunthorpe United directly. For most visitors, the realistic way to experience the ground is on a matchday rather than through a formal stadium tour.
