Stadium Overview

The Pirelli Stadium is a tidy, modern lower-league ground built close to Burton Albion's former Eton Park home. Opened in 2005, it is compact, practical and easy to understand, with four covered stands close to the pitch. It does not have the size or height of some older League One grounds, but it is well suited to Burton Albion and generally offers good sightlines.

The Main Stand on one side is the only fully seated stand and contains the main club facilities, hospitality, offices, dressing rooms and media areas. Opposite is a covered terrace. Behind the goals are further covered stands, with one end usually used by home supporters and the other forming the away section. The ground has a simple, enclosed feel and because the stands are close to the pitch it can generate a decent atmosphere when there is a good crowd.

The Pirelli Stadium is also a multi-use venue, hosting conferences, hospitality, events and community activity. Its location just off the A38 makes it much easier by road than many town-centre grounds, though the surrounding roads and car parks can still be slow immediately before and after matches.

Away End

Away supporters at the Pirelli Stadium are normally housed at the east end of the ground. The usual away section is a covered terrace behind the goal, although some fixtures may include seated accommodation in part of the Main Stand depending on ticket demand, competition rules, safety requirements and the make-up of the away allocation.

The away entrance is generally on the eastern side of the stadium, separate from the main home approaches. The ground is easy to navigate once you arrive, but away coaches, away parking and pedestrian movement can all concentrate around the same side of the stadium, so it is worth arriving early for bigger followings.

The away terrace gives a good close view and can generate plenty of noise because of the low roof and compact design. Supporters who need seating or accessible accommodation should book in advance through their own club, as these places may not be in the same part of the stadium as the main standing away allocation.

Matchday Advice

The Pirelli Stadium is one of the easier League One grounds by road because it sits close to the A38. Drivers should use the club's official travel information and car park guidance, as matchday parking can fill and nearby industrial estate arrangements may vary. The area is much less complicated than many urban grounds, but traffic can queue at the junctions closest to the stadium after full-time.

Burton-on-Trent railway station is roughly a 15-minute walk from the ground, making the train a realistic option for many supporters. The route is fairly straightforward, but allow extra time if you plan to use pubs or food options in the town centre before walking up.

The best view is normally from the Main Stand, while the terraced ends and sides give a more traditional lower-league feel. Away fans should be aware that the normal visiting allocation may be standing terrace rather than seats, so check ticket type carefully before buying.

Tickets

Burton Albion sell home tickets through the club's official ticket office and online channels. The Main Stand is the best option for supporters wanting a seated side-on view and is also the stand most associated with hospitality and family-friendly facilities. The terraced areas give a more traditional matchday feel and are better suited to supporters who prefer to stand.

Away tickets are normally sold by the visiting club. Supporters should check whether their ticket is for the away terrace or a seated section, because Burton's away allocation can include different areas depending on demand and competition requirements. Accessible away tickets and companion arrangements should be requested in advance.

The Pirelli Stadium is compact, so there are few truly poor views, but supporters who require seats should not assume they can swap from terrace to seating on the day. Buy the correct ticket type in advance.

Stadium Rules

The Pirelli Stadium follows standard EFL ground regulations. Supporters should expect stewarding, ticket checks and possible bag searches. Pyrotechnics, smoke bombs, weapons, alcohol brought into the stadium, discriminatory language, throwing objects and entering the pitch are prohibited.

Fans should use the stand and entrance shown on their ticket. This is especially important at Burton because the away allocation may include terrace and seated areas, and supporters cannot assume they will be able to move between sections. Smoking and vaping are not permitted in normal seated or terraced spectator areas unless the club identifies a specific permitted area.

The stadium is close to residential and industrial areas, so supporters should also respect local roads, parking restrictions and businesses around Princess Way and Derby Road.

Accessibility

Burton Albion publish dedicated disabled supporter information for the Pirelli Stadium. There are a limited number of disabled parking spaces available for both home and away supporters, and Blue Badge holders are advised to book in advance. The club also provides accessible ticketing support through its ticket office.

Wheelchair bays are available in both home and away areas, but spaces are limited and should be arranged before the fixture. Supporters requiring a personal assistant, accessible seating, step-free access or disabled parking should contact the club or their own ticket office as early as possible.

The Pirelli Stadium is more modern and easier to navigate than many older grounds, but the practical issue is availability rather than basic access. Do not leave disabled parking or accessible seating until the day of the game.

Stadium Tours

Burton Albion have offered official Pirelli Stadium tours. Recent club tour information described access to areas such as the boardroom, home and away dressing rooms, tunnel, pitchside, dugout, media room and hospitality suites. These tours appear to run on selected dates rather than as a daily tourist attraction.

Supporters interested in a tour should check Burton Albion's official website and ticketing channels for availability. The tour is worthwhile for groundhoppers because the Pirelli Stadium is a compact modern ground with a clear link to Burton's rise from non-league football into the EFL.
