Stadium Overview

Loftus Road is one of the tightest and most compact grounds in the Championship. It sits in a dense residential area of Shepherd's Bush and feels completely different from a modern out-of-town stadium. The stands are close to the pitch, the corners feel enclosed, and the restricted site gives the ground its distinctive, slightly cramped character.

The main stands are the Stanley Bowles Stand, the South Africa Road Stand, the Loftus Road End and the School End. The Loftus Road End is the traditional home end, while away supporters are placed in the School End. The South Africa Road Stand contains many of the main club facilities and the television gantry. Because of the tight footprint, legroom and concourse space can feel limited compared with newer grounds, but the closeness to the pitch gives Loftus Road a strong old-school atmosphere when the crowd is up.

Away End

Away supporters are normally housed in the School End. Depending on allocation and fixture demand, visiting fans may be given the upper tier, lower tier or both parts of the stand. The away section is behind one of the goals and is reached from the streets behind the School End rather than from the main South Africa Road frontage.

The away end at Loftus Road is compact, and concourse space can feel tight when the allocation is full. Views can vary by row and tier, but the closeness to the pitch makes the ground feel intense. Supporters travelling by tube often use White City, Shepherd's Bush Market, Wood Lane or Shepherd's Bush stations, then walk through the surrounding streets to the stadium. For larger away followings, allow extra time because queues can build in the narrow streets around the School End.

Getting There

By Road

From the North

Approach London via the M1/A1 and use the A406/A40 routes towards Shepherd's Bush and White City. Loftus Road is in a dense residential area with very limited parking, so check ULEZ and parking restrictions before driving.

From the South

Use the A3, A316 or south-west London routes towards Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush. Roads around South Africa Road are tight and controlled, making public transport or pre-booked parking the safer option.

From the East

Cross London towards the A40/Westway or Shepherd's Bush. This can be slow at almost any time, so allow plenty of time and avoid trying to park immediately beside the stadium.

From the West

Use the M4 or A40 towards west London, then follow routes for White City and Shepherd's Bush. Check ULEZ, event-day restrictions and parking zones before travelling.

By Train

Shepherd's Bush Station

Shepherd's Bush is the most practical rail/Overground station for Loftus Road, with good connections and a manageable walk to the ground. It is also close to Underground options.

White City Station

White City is an Underground station rather than National Rail, but it is one of the best public transport stops for Loftus Road. Use it if arriving via the Central line.

Wood Lane Station

Wood Lane is another useful Underground option for Loftus Road, especially for Hammersmith & City or Circle line routes. It is a practical alternative to Shepherd's Bush.

Walking From Station

Shepherd's Bush Station

From Shepherd's Bush, Loftus Road is usually around a 10 to 15 minute walk. Follow routes towards White City, South Africa Road and the stadium.

White City Station

From White City, the walk to Loftus Road is usually around 5 to 10 minutes. Follow South Africa Road towards the stadium.

Wood Lane Station

From Wood Lane, Loftus Road is usually around a 10 minute walk. Head towards White City and South Africa Road.

By Air

Heathrow Airport

Heathrow Airport is usually the best airport for Loftus Road, especially for long-haul visitors. Use the Elizabeth line, Underground or road transfer towards west London, then connect to Shepherd's Bush, White City or Wood Lane. Loftus Road is a short walk from those stations.

Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport is also practical for QPR. Travel by train to London Victoria or London Bridge, then cross London by Underground or Overground towards Shepherd's Bush / White City. Allow time for the cross-London transfer.

London City Airport

London City Airport can work for some European routes, but it is on the opposite side of London from Loftus Road. Use DLR and Underground connections across London towards Shepherd's Bush, White City or Wood Lane.

Matchday Advice

Public transport is by far the best way to visit Loftus Road. The stadium sits in a built-up residential area with very limited parking, and QPR-related away information strongly advises supporters to use public transport where possible. Street parking exists in places, but restrictions are common and supporters should pay close attention to local signs. Road closures around the stadium can also apply from around 90 minutes before kick-off.

Away supporters should allow time to walk from the tube or Overground stations and should head directly for the School End rather than approaching via the home Loftus Road End. Westfield and Shepherd's Bush provide plenty of food and drink options before the match. The ground is compact, so late arrival can mean slow movement through narrow streets, tight turnstile queues and busy concourses.

Tickets

Home tickets are sold through QPR's official ticketing channels, with availability and pricing varying by fixture and membership status. For a neutral, the South Africa Road Stand gives one of the better side-on views and a more traditional main-stand experience. The Stanley Bowles Stand also provides side-on seating, though parts of Loftus Road can feel tight compared with modern stadiums. The Loftus Road End is the main home end and is best suited to QPR supporters wanting atmosphere.

Away supporters should buy through their own club once QPR release the allocation. Visiting fans are normally issued tickets for the School End. Collections, duplicates and matchday sales should be checked with the travelling club, because ticketing arrangements can differ by fixture and London policing or travel issues may affect matchday guidance.

Stadium Rules

Loftus Road operates standard football ground regulations, including ticket checks, searches where required, segregation controls and bans on pyrotechnics, pitch incursions, throwing objects and discriminatory behaviour. Supporters should use the correct entrance for their ticket and should not attempt to move between home and away areas.

Because Loftus Road is surrounded by narrow residential streets, supporters should follow steward and police instructions around road closures, queues and walking routes. Bag rules, flags, banners and prohibited items should be checked against QPR's latest matchday information. Supporters driving to the area should also respect local parking restrictions, as enforcement is common around Shepherd's Bush on matchdays.

Accessibility

QPR publish accessibility information for disabled and ambulant supporters. Level Playing Field records 34 wheelchair spaces at Loftus Road, including 10 away wheelchair spaces in the School End Z6 area. The stadium is accessible to disabled supporters, but the age and compactness of the ground mean that advance planning is important.

Away disabled supporters should arrange wheelchair spaces, ambulant disabled seating, personal assistant tickets and any accessible parking or assistance requirements before travelling, usually through their own club and QPR's accessibility route. Because the stadium has limited space and the away wheelchair allocation is restricted, supporters should not wait until matchday to raise access needs.

Stadium Tours

QPR do offer official Loftus Road stadium tours. The club advertises guided tours as a behind-the-scenes look at the home of Queens Park Rangers, giving supporters access to areas that are not normally open on a matchday and allowing them to follow in the footsteps of the players.

Tour availability is date-led and should be booked through QPR's official stadium tours page. Because Loftus Road is an active match and events venue, the route and availability can change depending on fixtures, maintenance and club operations. Supporters should check dates, prices and access arrangements before making a special journey.
